In an attempt to continue to provide helpful and valuable information resources we have gathered together what we feel are 9 great adoption agencies in the tri-state area. Obviously adoption is a very personal decision and you are going to want to do your research and contact several agencies to see which agency is the best fit for your needs and personality. But if you live in the tri-state area this list is a great starting point.

Spence Chapin New York Spence Chapin is an accredited nonprofit organization that has been offering quality adoption services for more than 100 years. Its mission is to provide adoption and adoption-related services of the highest quality. The organization focuses on finding adoptive homes for children who need families; promoting the understanding of adoption through counseling and public education; and improving adoption’s image and practice. Spence-Chapin’s roots can be traced to the early 1900s.

Independent Adoption CentersIndependent Adoption Center’s (IAC) mission is to provide open adoption placement and counseling to birth and adoptive families to ensure that every child grows up feeling loved and supported. IAC informs supports, and guides birth and adoptive parents through the process of creating healthy new families through open adoption. IAC’s professional staff provides support and counseling for birthparents, works closely with adoptive parents throughout the adoption process, and provides ongoing post-placement support and consultation for birthparents and adoptive families. IAC is focused on transforming lives through open adoption by serving the best interests of birthparents, children, and adoptive families. IAC is one of the only adoption agencies in the country that has never had any exclusionary policies for adoptive parents, including age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, religion, ethnic background, color, or race.

They help families prepare to welcome a child into their home & support them throughout the whole process. They also help birthparents in the difficult process of planning for an unexpected pregnancy. They will discuss your options with you, help in your decision-making, conduct home studies, guide you through the legalization of an adoption & provide post-placement services. Catholic Charities is licensed by the Department of Children & Families as a child-placing agency & is COA accredited. Catholic Charities has full Hague Accreditation. In serving families who choose to build their family through adoption, Catholic Charities provides many different adoption services: home study approval services (both domestic & international), domestic child placement, post-placement & post-adoption supervision, & search & right-to-know services for adult adoptees & their birthparents.

The agency was established by a group of individuals concerned with the increasing number of state foster children waiting for adoptive parents. Incorporated in 1989, the agency was originally known as “Child Adoption Resource Association”. In 2009, in honor of its 20th Anniversary, the agency took on its new name and logo. In April 2013, CT Adoption Services joined with Waterford Country School (WCS), a multi-program community service agency in Southeastern Connecticut. With WCS as our parent company, our clients now have access to a wider range of services including trainings, support groups, and the mental health clinic. WCS holds the highest level of accreditation from the Council on Accreditation (COA).
